Get Published! HL's New DIY Web Series

Follow Hunter Library’s series of do-it-yourself, self-paced tasks to:

·         find places to publish your scholarly work, including open access venues,

·         write queries to publishers,

·         negotiate your rights as an author, and

·         avoid “predatory” publishers.  

Every week or so, there will be a new task, with accompanying information, to walk you through the process of getting published.

Boost Your Scholarly Profile, Task 3: Create your scholarly ID

Now that you have set up your Google Scholar profile, it’s time for Task 3: Create your scholarly ID.  

This guide will walk you through creating an ORCID account, which will provide a unique number to associate with your scholarship; this will help you distinguish yourself from other scholars with the same name. It will also help you tie all of your scholarship to one number if you have different names associated with your scholarship (for example, if you changed your name or if you used your middle name in one article and not another). Then, if you want to kick it up a notch, set up your Researcher ID as well. 

Boost Your Scholarly Profile, Task 2: Google Scholar

Now that you have assessed your online presence, it's time to give it a boost. Start with Task 2: Google Scholar. If you don't have a Google Scholar profile, this guide will show you how to get started. If you already have a Google Scholar profile, it will help you make sure the information is up-to-date, correct, complete, and searchable.

Reception, Faculty Scholarship Celebration 5:00 p.m., Thursday, February 16

Please join us on Thursday, February 16, for the reception of the 2012 Faculty Scholarship Celebration. The celebration includes an exhibit of faculty works on the main floor of the library through March 30. The Faculty Scholarship Celebration honors the scholarly and creative accomplishments of the WCU faculty for the 2011 year.
