New Feature--Text a Call Number
You found the perfect book
for your research paper in the library’s catalog. Now you need to run down to
the first floor of the library to find it. But you don’t have pen and paper
handy to jot down the call number. No worries! Use Hunter Library’s new “Send
via Text Message” feature! Simply click on the “Send via Text Message” button,
enter your 10 digit cell phone number, choose your service provider from the
drop-down menu, and click Send. The title of the book, the call number, and the
location of the book in the library will come to your cell phone as a text
message. Snap!

Access The Chronicle of Higher Education on the Go
Hunter Library makes it more convenient to access premium
articles from the Chronicle and eliminates the need for a personal subscription.
When you create a free account at the Chronicle using your WCU email address, you gain
access to all subscriber content online from your personal computer without
going through the library's web page.
You will also get access to the Chronicle on your iPad. Download the app from the Apple store and sign in with your account. If you have a different tablet or smart phone, log on to the Chronicle from your web browser; the site is optimized for mobile interfaces.
Registering for a free account with the Chronicle gives you access to all content through the library's campus-wide subscription. You will need to use a wcu.edu email address. If you already have a personal account, but created it using a different email address, you will have to create a new account to take advantage of this service.

Yearbooks Available Online
Yearbooks from Western Carolina University are now
available online. The earliest—titled
Oogoocoo, thought to be a Cherokee word—were published in 1918 and 1919. The more familiar Catamount was published
from 1933 up into the 21st century.
College yearbooks contain photographs of the historic campus, portraits
of faculty and students, and pictures of student life and athletics. There are 73 yearbooks in this collection,
each with multiple pages and pictures.

Students at Biltmore Park—Read This!
Are you taking classes at Biltmore Park this semester? You have
access to the
library resources you need without driving to Cullowhee. Start by searching for
online journals and e-books from the Library Catalog or in one of our many
research databases. But don’t forget
the library also has books, CDs, and DVDs to lend. Request an
item in the Library Catalog or through Interlibrary Loan and have it delivered
and ready for pick-up at Biltmore Park. Be sure to bring your Cat Card if
you plan to check out books. As a bonus, many of the restaurants at Biltmore
Park offer discounts to students who show their Cat Cards. As always, librarians are available to assist you
with your research and information needs. Use the chat box on the library’s homepage or email a subject specialist for help.
Read more about how what library services are available at Biltmore Park here.
